December Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report

December fishing on Lake Okeechobee has been great. We have had no fronts until today the 21st. It's going down to 39 tonight. The good news is by Monday it will be back to 78. Some big fish are starting to show up in the grass ,Spoons- topwater swimbaits- frogs are working best. Tip on the topwater fishing in the grass, when you miss a fish keep an eye on where the fish blow up on your lure and have a worm or a soft plastic jerkbait ready and throw it on the same spot. They will take it almost every time. Worm fishing on the outside grass lines is also working good, i like watermelon red senkos and 8" yamamoto curly tail worms the best. Junebug is also a good choice. Like always if you want to catch a bigun get you fippin stick out and go punch some mats.Good luck everyone and give me a call and book a trip. Merry Christmas!
Water Remains High!

Water remains very high on Lake Okeechobee. Water level today was 15.84 feet. Fishing also remains good. It is still taking high 20's to 30lbs to win any one day tournament. The fishing on the lake this winter is going to b. off the chart,Tthere is so much new water to fish. There is so much backwater that has been unfishable for years that is open now. If you have been thinking about coming to this great lake now is the time. Lake Okeechobee is a must on everyones bucket list.

The lake is almost 15ft. It's been a long time since The Big O has been at this level. It has really scattered the fish, but if you know where to go fishing remains good. The good thing is it has opened up alot of new water. Look for the topwater swimbait bite to really get good. Also the water temp has come down which is good. They are starting to come in off the lake, this will be one of the best winters for fishing on Okeechobee in a long time.Iit took 27 to win here last weekend thats the smallest weight it has taken lately.
